Sinochem News, October 20: October 17-18, 2021 China Membrane Industry Development Summit and the 4th Membrane Industry "Mata Lake" Summit Forum was held in Huantai, Shandong.  At the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan", many academicians, leaders, and industry experts expressed their views on the overall thinking, development goals, development directions and development priorities of the membrane industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.  The participating experts agreed that China The development of the membrane industry can be expected in the future, and innovation drives the industry to "speed up."

At present, the membrane industry plays an irreplaceable supporting role in solving water resources, air and water environmental pollution, developing new energy industries, especially improving energy and resource utilization.  With the continuous advancement of membrane technology, my country's membrane industry has achieved rapid development and has become a common technology and supporting industry for the development of many important industries.  In the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan", membrane is an important field of new chemical materials.  It is very important to grasp the development direction of membrane technology and grasp the development opportunities of the membrane industry.  "Gao Congjie, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said.

Zhao Jungui, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Petrochemical Federation, pointed out that under the background of the development focus of the petrochemical industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and the “dual carbon” background, high-end membrane materials, as one of the fields of new chemical materials,  have become key development areas.  First, the industry must accelerate innovation and development and optimize the industrial layout.

The current development of the membrane industry is facing huge opportunities and challenges.  Gao Congjie believes that due to the country's high attention to water safety, it has brought market demand for the development of the membrane industry.  Industrial transformation and upgrading, traditional process transformation, and the development of national strategic emerging industries such as energy conservation and environmental protection, biology, new energy, and new materials have brought new development space and growth points to the membrane industry.  At the same time, the huge demand of the international membrane market has also brought unprecedented opportunities for the development of China's membrane industry.  Although my country's membrane industry has huge opportunities, it also faces challenges such as insufficient innovation capabilities, limited product types, narrow application areas, prominent structural contradictions, and large macroeconomic fluctuations in the terminal market.

In this regard, Zheng Genjiang, chairman of the China Membrane Industry Association, said that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, my country's membrane industry will focus on technological innovation, key breakthroughs, high-end leadership, and strong chain supplementary development.  Especially in terms of scientific and technological innovation, it will focus on the major needs of the country's economic and social development and focus on three aspects:  first, strengthen original innovation, focus on the research and development of high-performance membranes and membrane materials, seize the commanding heights of membrane technology, and support the high-quality development of my country's membrane industry.  The second is to strengthen the research and development of common technologies such as the modularization, intelligence, mechatronics, and parts and components of membrane equipment, through the development and localization of key technologies such as equipment design and research, manufacturing process and process optimization.  The key breakthroughs in equipment have realized the high performance and high added value of membrane equipment, making the membrane equipment industry an advanced equipment manufacturing industry.  The third is to strengthen technology application research, broaden application fields, and improve membrane application level.  For example, in terms of exchange membranes, in response to typical material separation process requirements in the chemical, biochemical, energy and other industries, specific homogeneous ion exchange membranes have been developed oriented, and a series of stereotyped and subdivided membrane varieties have been developed.

Zhang Wenming, the second-level inspector of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that my country is currently in a critical period of developing from a large country in the membrane industry to a strong country in the membrane industry.  The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will actively guide the development of the membrane industry through policies and plans.  At the same time, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the entire industry must take innovation as a means to enhance new drivers of high-quality development, concentrate on overcoming a number of "stuck neck" and "short-board" technologies, and enhance core competitiveness.  At the same time, the industry must ensure the stability of the industrial chain supply chain and enhance the independent controllability of the industrial chain supply chain.

At the opening ceremony, the China Membrane Industry Association officially awarded Membrane Valley the title of "China Membrane Industry Demonstration Base".  Zheng Genjiang, Chairman of the China Membrane Industry Association, and Jiang Duntao, Secretary of the Zibo Municipal Party Committee jointly unveiled the "China Membrane Industry Demonstration Base" officially settled in Huantai, The China Membrane Industry Association officially released the "14th Five-Year Plan for China's Membrane Industry", which was presided over by Wang Jiwen, Secretary-General of China Membrane Industry Association.  In the follow-up conference report, Zheng Genjiang, chairman of the China Membrane Industry Association, gave a detailed interpretation of the "Planning";  the opening ceremony also held a grand "Membrane Technology Manual (Second Edition)" release ceremony.  Chaired by Deng Maicun, academician Gao Congjie, director of the manual editing committee, and Professor Jin Wanqin, the editor-in-chief, presented the manual to the China Membrane Industry Association and "China Membrane Valley".

This summit is co-sponsored by the China Membrane Industry Association, the Chemical Industry Park Working Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and the People's Government of Zibo City.  At the same time, the "China-Africa Seawater Desalination and Water Resources Utilization Cooperation and Development International Forum" was held.  The China Membrane Industry Association and the Africa-China Cooperation and Development Association signed a framework agreement.  Both parties will make efforts to strengthen the exchanges between Chinese and African non-governmental organizations.  In addition, six parallel sub-forums were held, including a sub-forum on the application of membrane separation technology in the petrochemical field and a sub-forum on the application of membrane technology in zero discharge of wastewater.
